Sometimes You Gotta Be Your Own Hero

One day it will be your turn to be your own hero. You will have to rip off your clothes, put on your rescue boots and save yourself. There will be an emergency and you will have no option but to be stronger than the danger.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the biggest earthquake of your life, or if it feels like all your feelings are colliding with each other like in a vortex. Sooner or later the time will come when you have to pull out your claws and fight fiercely.

You may have someone who holds your hand with all the affection in the world, but sometimes you will realize that your hand is the only hand that can pull you out of the pit. You will not see the light until you destroy your demons yourself. At some point it will be your turn to see yourself as you never wanted to see yourself, in a place you never wanted to go. And in the end you will conquer it all.

You have a heart to defend

You may think you have the most robust and solid shield around. You probably won’t even think it possible that a storm can brew inside your soul because you’ve built such a great wall around it. It happens to all of us:  we think we get stronger the more pain we endure.

But you’re wrong. Deep down you have a heart that is not immune to danger, even if you take every precaution you can think of. You have a heart that you must defend like a hero, no matter what or how old you are. It deserves that more than anything else, because it gives meaning to your existence.

Hero

That heart is an extraordinary achievement and the person who owns it should appreciate it. Your heart bears your name and hopes that, in the scariest moments of its existence, you will not turn your back on it,  for nothing or no one.

You are your main hero

There are many hearts around you that need to be taken care of. Remember that it is good to help, to give advice and it is very noble to fight for the good of others. But there will also be temporary phases where  you will have to be your most important hero yourself and you will realize that you have an obligation to help yourself, give yourself advice and fight for yourself.

You will feel that you need empathy, compassion, trust and security. Then you will find that no one can give you those things better than you. You will have to envelop yourself in understanding, forget the judgments about yourself and maintain the challenge of getting rid of your nightmares.

Just as a brave hero would, you will believe in perseverance and find the motivation that will compel you to find a way to deal with adversity in order to become a better person. And, most importantly, there will be plenty of room for bravery, who can look fear straight in the eye and conquer it.

There’s no option but to get up and fight

If you were faced with a huge risk that you have never encountered before, what would you do? Well, your survival instinct would make you keep your head above water and be brave. This is what it means to overcome something: not giving up without trying first.

Hero

There is not a person who does not cry or experience pain. You will come to know pain, but you will not give up: the pain that hurts so much will go away and you will learn from it. By the way, everything you did out of concern for others, you should also do for yourself.

There will be no other option available. You will be confused, discouraged, and you will be plunged into chaos, causing you to panic. Your world will become unstable and you will think you are unable to find the balance again. You will look for ways to do this and you will be filled with doubt. This is when your hero – yourself – will show his strength and come to assist you. You owe it to yourself, don’t you?
